  1. Understand maintenance physiology

Pivotal-trial follow-up shows ~2/3 of weight loss is regained within a year of stopping GLP-1 therapy. The body defends its prior setpoint actively. Maintenance is a real, ongoing intervention — not a finish line.

  2. Settle on a maintenance dose

Some patients hold the full label dose; many can step down to a lower maintenance dose with stable weight. The right dose is the lowest one at which weight stays in a 2–3 kg band over 8+ weeks.

  3. Lock in nutrition and training

Maintenance is where protein and resistance training stop being optional. Lean mass is the metabolic infrastructure that makes a lower setpoint sustainable.
